1) What inspired you to get involved with DJing?
For me, it’s got to be uncle. I grew up surrounded by music. He is a classical composer who happens to love drum and bass and so this really shaped the way I listen to and experience music. It’s always been a massive pillar within our family, something that everyone enjoys!! From playing the piano to watching him make his own tunes was very inspiring. I’ve wanted to get into DJ’ing for years now and I think you reach a point in life where you are like F**K IT. I’m gonna go for it. That’s what happened to me anyway.. my uncle is such a huge part of that and inspires me to be authentically myself which I’ll forever be grateful for.
2) What artists do you look up to for influence and inspiration?
Honestly there are SO many - it’s hard to pick a handful as I feel you can take inspiration from every artist in some way but if I had to choose a few they would be (in no particular order) Kyrist, Sabrina, Gaia, Halogenix, Bryan Gee, Break, Alix Perez, LSB.
3) What artists from the underground DnB scene have caught your eye?
Got to be Memphis, Astralis, Apache, Nooch, Teej, DSB and all the music from the mothership gals!
4) If you could collab with any musician of any genre, who would you choose and why?
One day when I start my producing journey, I’d love to collab with Halogenix on a minimal liquid roller track because I think his work is so experimental and you never know what to expect which I love!! Always got something new and unique up his sleeve.
5) What are your top 5 non DnB tunes?
Ooo good question!
Again, no particular order but
- Runnin’ - The Pharcyde
- Cherry Wine - Nas, Amy Winehouse
- Coconuts - Frankie Stew & Harvey Gunn
- Leaned Out - IAMDDB, Inka
- Standing There - The Silhouettes Project
6) If music was not your passion, what do you think you would be pursuing instead?
I’ve always wanted to open up a cafe - maybe one day I could do both! That would be fun!!
