Question Time With Kanna

1) What inspired you to get involved with djing?

My mum and dad were djs in the 80s/90s so Ive been around sound systems, records and dj culture my whole life, it was like 3 years ago though when a family friend came to dj my birthday that I started mixing on his set up and I was hooked.

2) What artists do you look up to for influence and inspiration?

I would say bladerunner, serum, shy fx, were the biggest inspiration to me, i love their passion for the scene and they all have such unique sounds.

3) What artists from the underground DnB scene have caught your eye?

(@delmakesmusic) Del has been doing bits in the scene, militant was an insane track. He has a very fresh and new sound and I’m excited to hear it take over.

4) If you could collab with any musician of any genre, who would you choose and why?

As a dj if I were to collab with someone it would be a sick mc. someone like skibadee or spyda, legendary mcs that have contributed massively to the scene.

5) What are your top 5 non DnB tunes?

Nas - Represent

Cyprus Hill - Hits From The Bong

Bob Marley and the Wailers - Jamming

Gregory Isaacs - Night Nurse

Musical Youth - Pass The Dutchie

6) If music was not your passion, what do you think you would be pursuing instead?

Something in construction, I’m a carpenter by trade and that’s definitely helping now I’m building a sound system with the boys! (@dmdsoundsystems)
